COURSE GRADING PRACTICES

Course grades will be determined roughly by the following formula:*

 Homework              10%
 Quizzes                    20
 Midterm 1                20
 Midterm 2                20
 Final exam                30%

*The instructor reserves the right to include subjective assessment of your progress, effort, class participation, and exceptional performances on simulations and exams in determining your course grade. Class attendance is required. You may miss one class without penalty. After one miss, your grade may be lowered.

Ten quizzes are planned. They are multiple choice taken from a test bank for the text. No make up quizzes are given. You will be able to throw out one of the ten quizzes in determining your course grade. Midterms are essay, problem and graphs. They are prepared by the instructor and cover material from class, the text and current events. It is recommended that you read a news-paper on a regular basis.

All work is to be done and turned in on time. Late work will be marked down. In the event of a legitimate excuse to miss a midterm exam, such as serious illness or death in the immediate family, you are responsible for notifying Ms. Deidra Price, 621 - 8118 or my answering machine, 621 - 8303 in advance of the scheduled exam. (Sports events, early flights home, ill friends, other course work, family visits, et. al. are not legitimate excuses.) In the event of illness, a Baxter or other Doctor’s note must be provided.
